The old man decided to have a look at the girl weaving, so he slowly pushed the old wooden door ajar and saw the girl was a crane - the crane that he had seen earlier that day. Then the crane saw that he was peeking, and she started to leave, ‘’Don't go,’’ yelled the old man.
‘’I have to, now that you know who I really am,’’ said the crane.
‘’I shall not tell anyone’’ the old man replied. The crane walked slowly to the door with its head bowed. The old man and woman watched as the crane flew into the distance.

This week for reading we had to read a story and the activity was to draw maroi rock art on kidpix.
Otama school

Otama School is a small school 15 minutes from Gore. There are 30 kids in the whole school. It is one long building that has two classrooms, a library, an office and many more spare rooms. Our schools motto is “Little footprints big steps.” The school sits at the top of a little bank on a big field. We all love it here at Otama School!

The picture perfect windy roads stare at the beautiful scenery. The road in front is flat. The trees are tall and slim. The leaves are changing to Autumn colours. But some leaves glisten where the sun sneaks through to light the way.

MUD FOOTBALL!
I fall straight into the gooey mud and get a face full of nice sloppy dirt. The goaly smashes the muddy ball and makes it rain mud all over the spectators. I push one of the opposition into the mud. It is the most brutal game of soccer I've ever played. At the end of the day no one could tell that it was me.

Our First Game of Basketball

This year I played basketball for Te Tipua School. On Wednesday I played basketball. It was my teams first game and also my first time playing basketball. Because it was our first game we weren't as good as we are now so we lost. 64 to 9 that is. Part of the reason we lost was because we were playing the best team from Longford.

We got 9 points mainly because of fouls. But we got 1 basket which got us 2 points. The other 7 points were from fouls by Longford.

My team was really disappointed at the results because they had 55 more points than us. But it was only our first game that just means there's a lot more room for improvement.

(:Swimming sports:)

Bang splash and they’re off! On Friday the 25th of April 2015, Gore country schools had swimming sports. Swimming sports is when all the Gore country schools meet at the Gore pool and have a swimming competition between them. First we all arrived. We were greeted by hundreds of kids sitting in the stands beside the pool. In my head I was scanning for the 12 year olds sign and finally I found it. I was stuck there waiting for  my first race. Then a lady  yelled out “12 year old boys line up over here!” . So we all walked over to where we had the lineup and then were stuck waiting for our race. At least we were one step closer to it. Then we got put in our lane and, you guessed it, we waited again:(. Finally the lady said “Ready, set, GO!” I was working hard but not hard enough as there was 3 people in front of me. I came 4th. Next I had to go back to the stands. Then I got called up again so I hopped in the water and the lady said “Ready, set, GO!” And I was off as fast as I could. This time I came 5th. Next I had the relay. Our relay team was Chloe, Laura, Richard and myself. Laura started the race, then Chloe,  then me. I was getting ready to tag Richard then he finished the relay. Soon we found out how we did. We came 3rd. We were really happy with our placing. It was a really great day and I'm pretty pleased with my results.

My favourite part of the day  My favourite part of the day is just before we start school because we do a challenge. A challenge is when we get split up into groups. There is usually two groups of four and one group of three.

A challenge is a task set by the teacher which we solve as a group. It is different every day.

The challenges usually are about ten minutes long. We get told that we have one minute left at nine minutes. The challenges are really fun because the prepare us for the long learning day ahead. That is why challenges definitely are my favourite part of the day!!!!
